Grade 80 Connecting Link CNL type

No.502001

The Grade 80 Connecting Link (CNL Type), commonly known as a Hammerlock or Chain Connector, is a high-strength mechanical fitting engineered to join Grade 80 lifting chains to master links, eye hooks, and other sling components without the need for welding.

  • Mechanical Assembly: Features a two-piece body connected by a robust load pin and retaining sleeve, allowing for fast, easy, and reliable in-field assembly and repair of chain slings.
  • Heavy-Duty Strength: Forged from quenched and tempered alloy steel, supporting a wide range of Working Load Limits (WLL) from 1.12 tonnes up to 31.5 tonnes to handle demanding industrial lifts.
  • Standard Compliance: Designed to meet stringent international specifications, including EN 1677, with options available for ASTM A952 or AS 3776 standards to ensure global operational safety.
  • Replacement Parts: Highly maintainable design with separately available load pins and sleeves (both single and double sleeve configurations) for extending the service life of the rigging assembly.

  • Robust Material: Forged from Quenched and Tempered Alloy Steel (Grade 80) for superior fatigue resistance.
  • Standards Compliant: Fully compliant with EN 1677-1. Suitable for overhead lifting with a 4:1 safety factor.
  • Wide Range: Available from 6mm (1.12 Ton) up to 32mm (31.5 Ton).
  • Quality Verified: 100% Magnaflux Crack Detected and Proof Load Tested at 2.5x WLL.
Do I Need a Connecting Link?
Connection Scenario Requirement Explanation
Chain ↔ Master Link Required You MUST use a connecting link to join the chain leg to the master link (unless using welded slings).
Chain ↔ Eye Hook Required Eye Hooks have a closed ring. You need this link to connect them to the chain.
Chain ↔ Clevis Hook Not Needed Clevis Hooks connect directly to the chain using their own pin. Save money by skipping the link.

Grade 80 Chain Fittings

G-80 Alloy Fittings / Grade 80 Sling Components

Grade 80 Sling Components are the long-established industry standard for chain slings and heavy lifting. Fully compliant with international lifting regulations and designed for durability.

What Does “Grade 80” Mean?

  • High-strength Alloy Steel
  • Min breaking force ≈ 4 × WLL
  • Heat-treated (Quenched & Tempered)
  • Standard: EN 818-4 / EN 818-6
  • Marked “G80” or “8”

Common Grade 80 Components

1. Master Links

Used to connect the sling to a crane or hoist hook.

  • Master Link (ML)
  • Master Link Assembly (Multi-leg)
  • Pear-shaped master links

2. Hooks

End fittings for secure load attachment.

  • Clevis Self-Locking Hook
  • Eye Self-Locking Hook
  • Sling Hook with Safety Latch
  • Foundry Hook
  • Grab Hook (Shortening)

3. Connecting Links

Essential hardware to join chains or fittings.

  • Clevis Connecting Link
  • Hammerlock / Coupling Link
  • Repair Link (Special use only)

4. Chain & Adjusters

The core lifting medium and adjustment tools.

  • Grade 80 Alloy Chain (Marked G80)
  • Shortening Clutch
  • Swivel (Bearing/Non-bearing)
  • Lifting Rings

Typical Applications

  • Chain slings (1 to 4 legs)
  • Construction & Civil Works
  • Manufacturing & Workshops
  • Steel Fabrication
  • General Industrial Lifting

Identification Marks

  • Grade: G80 / 8
  • Manufacturer’s ID
  • Size or WLL (Working Load Limit)
  • Traceability Batch Code

Grade 80 vs. Grade 100

Feature Grade 80 Grade 100
Strength Level Standard Industry Standard +25% Higher
Component Size Larger Smaller (for same WLL)
Weight Heavier Lighter
Cost More Cost-Effective Higher

⚠️ Safety & Compatibility Notes

  • DO NOT mix Grade 80 components with other grades (G70, G100) in the same sling leg.
  • Always match Grade 80 chain with Grade 80 fittings.
  • Observe sling angle factors and WLL reductions during lifts.
  • Inspect regularly for: Wear (>10%), Cracks/Distortion, Corrosion, or Heat Damage.

Why Choose Grade 80?
